- Bulgarian children available for international adoption reside in orphanages – state governed and supported institutions for upbringing and education of children deprived of parental care.
- The majority of Bulgarian children available for international adoption are of Roma or Turkish heritage. They are with beautiful dark eyes, olive skin and shiny dark hair.
- Bulgarian children available for international adoption are at age between 1 and 18 years. In exceptional cases, where the health status of the child or other important circumstances so require, the child may be adopted even before having attained the age of one year, provided that this is exclusively in his/her interest.
- Abba’s Kids Ministry of Dreams Foundation is devoted to those Bulgarian children available for international adoption who have medium or serious medical problems. Also, all of them would have different degree of lagging behind in their physical and/or neuro-psychical development due to their institutionalization. Older children are available for adoption too. They have their own challenges since more or less they are with molded personalities. - The MOJ publishes on a regular basis a list of diagnoses and conditions of special needs children on their website. So far the list has been in Bulgarian language only. - In order for a child to be available for international adoption, s/he has to be either rejected by three Bulgarian families or has to be registered with the respective regional register for a term of at least 6 months.
